Accessibility Statement
HAZET is committed to creating a digital environment that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their individual abilities or the technologies they use. We recognise that digital accessibility is a fundamental prerequisite for equal participation in society and are constantly working to make our website accessible to everyone.
Accessibility status
This website is largely compliant with the requirements of the North Rhine-Westphalia Regulation on Accessible Information Technology (BITV NRW) together with EU Directive 2016/2102, as well as the provisions of the European Accessibility Act (EAA). The benchmark is WCAG 2.1, Conformity Level AA.
The website at www.hazet.de is only partially compliant with WCAG 2.2, Conformity Level AA, and BITV 2.0 due to a number of unmet test criteria
Non-accessible contents
- Missing alternatives for non-text contents such as images and videos:
- Videos (pre-recorded, with sound):
- At present, none of the videos embedded on or linked to from the website have their own, verified subtitles. Adding subtitles to all existing videos retrospectively would involve a disproportionate amount of effort on our part.
- Many videos are also published on our YouTube channel, where automatically generated subtitles are available. Please note that these are machine-generated and may contain errors.
- In future, newly published videos will be provided with subtitles.
- Images
- We are working on a solution to provide image descriptions for all images required for the use of the website.
- PDF documents:
- Some of the PDF documents currently available are not accessible. Especially, some are missing structural elements (tags), alternative text for graphics or a correct reading order.
- We are working to ensure that future PDF documents are created to be accessible. Existing PDFs will be provided in an accessible format on request, where necessary.
- Insufficient contrast in the use of corporate colours
- Contents in plain language and sign language are not currently available
Our commitment to accessibility
In accordance with the provisions of the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG) and the recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, we take a proactive approach to digital accessibility. Our aim is to provide an inclusive online experience that meets the needs of users with disabilities and takes the following principles into account:
- Perceivability: Information and user interface elements must be perceivable by all users. This includes providing text alternatives for non-text contents, subtitles and audio descriptions for media, and a clear and high-contrast presentation of contents.
- Operability: The user interface, components and navigation must be operable. We prioritise keyboard accessibility, sufficient time for interaction and intuitive navigation.
- Comprehensibility: Information and the operation of the user interface must be comprehensible. This includes clear and simple language, a predictable and consistent design, and guidance in the event of input errors.
- Robustness: Contents must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide range of user agents, including assistive technologies. We ensure standards-compliant implementation and compatibility with common screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Measures implemented and ongoing efforts
To ensure and continuously improve the accessibility of our website, we have, amongst other things, taken the following measures and are continuing to do so:
- Compliance with WCAG 2.2: We aim to comply with the Level AA success criteria of WCAG 2.2, which represent internationally recognised standards for web accessibility.
- Ongoing testing: Our website is regularly tested for accessibility, using both automated tools and manual checks and user testing.
- Alternative text descriptions: We provide meaningful alt text for images and other non-textual contents to make relevant information accessible to screen reader users.
- Keyboard navigation: The entire website can be navigated entirely via the keyboard, without the need for a mouse.
- High-contrast design: We ensure sufficient colour contrast between text and background to improve readability for people with visual impairments.
- Structured headings and contents: A logical hierarchy of headings and a clear structure of the contents facilitate navigation and comprehension.
- Form accessibility: Our forms are designed to be accessible, with clear labels and error messages that can be recognised by assistive technologies.
- Transcripts and subtitles: For audio and video content, we provide transcripts and/or subtitles wherever possible and appropriate.
- Responsive design: Our website is designed to display optimally on different devices and screen sizes to ensure accessibility.
- Feedback option: We provide a simple way for users to report accessibility issues or suggest improvements.
